4 Simple Habits to Live Healthier

There are so many ways in which we can become healthier. I don't know about you, but my health is the most important thing to me. If I am not feeling my best, how can I take care of those who rely on me? How can I function, work, cook, clean? Why not live life feeling your best
We keep hearing more and more about younger people being diagnosed with cancer. We know that obesity is an issue. There are more children being diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, etc. Now there's gluten intolerance, dairy intolerance...We are hearing more and more of these issues. Let's prevent them. Have you noticed more people going organic and GMO free? How about all these companies that are removing artificial ingredients from their products? Do you see the organic section of your local supermarket growing? There's a movement happening, and everyone should be aware of the ingredients that's being put in our food. Not only is it food, it's what we use, and expose our bodies to. There are so many toxins out there, why not avoid them if possible?

Here are 4 habits you should develop, to lead a healthier lifestyle.

1. Drink Water.
It sounds simple, but easier said than done. To create this habit, when you're at a restaurant, order water. When you are at the supermarket, don't buy soda, juice, lemonade. Buy a cool water bottle that will make you want to drink more water, and don't leave the house without it.
Here are two different blog posts I wrote on the benefits of water and how to intake more water. This can help make water more appealing to you. This simple habit can change your life. When you're 100% hydrated on pure water, you feel amazing.
Personally: I drink Smart Water, and I take it everywhere I go.

2. Sleep at least 7-8 hours every night.
That's right, weekends, weekdays, 7 to 8 hours. I've heard expressions like "sleep when you're dead", but that's not the way we should be thinking. Sleeping detoxes the body, refreshes us, gives us energy. We need sleep to function, and being deprived affects our body physically and mentally.
Personally: I sleep 8-9 hours a night. I need sleep, or I won't feel good. I go to bed early, and I wake up the same time every single day, even on the weekends.

3. Eat clean, whole foods.
Avoid processed foods. Avoid artificial ingredients and preservatives.
The easiest way to avoid these ingredients: Try to start shopping in the organic/natural section of your grocery store. Look for the non-GMO and organic verification. I know it can get pricey, but you can shop for great products and not spend a fortune. Check for sales and coupons, just like you would for other brand names. Compare prices. Be aware of the ingredients in your food, you may think it's healthy, but if it contains vegetable oil or sugar and isn't non-GMO, you are probably eating GMO's.
Another great tip for the produce section...If you can't purchase all organic produce for budget reasons, purchase a fruit and vegetable wash. I use this brand, and it lasts for a long time.
Personally: I usually shop at either Whole Foods and buy the 365 brand, or Target and buy the Simply Balanced brand. I check for organic and non-GMO verification. I use Cartwheel at Target, which saves me money. I notice I spend the same or less amount of money as my family members that don't purchase organic and non-GMO products.

4. Avoid harsh chemicals in beauty products.
We are exposed to so many toxins, between the water we use and air we breathe. Let's avoid all the toxins that we can to ensure a better lifestyle. I have a beauty guide of safe brands here. If you are hesitant to change beauty products, or want to learn how "bad" the products you currently use are...check out this website. Simply type in the product you use, and a rating will come up 0-10, 10 being the most harmful. Quite interesting, huh? I was surprised to see how bad many of the big brands out there are, like Dove, Johnson and Johnson, etc.

Bottom Line: It's time to start living healthier.
